Memorial service for US troops

Thousands of US servicemen were stationed around Rockhampton during WW2.  While here they built a non-denominational bush chapel on the outskirts of town, amid Eucalypt scrub.  Each year veterans and officials of Rockhampton conduct a service commemorating their lives and service.

The preacher navigates the issues in the bush chapel.

Margaret, Jim, Culley and I went along to participate.  Mayor Carter was scheduled to speak, and there were four other Councillors at the service, but we agreed not to use the service politically in any way other than conversationally.

Mayor Carter to left, three Councillors in triangle to right, Culley and Jim behind them

During the service a score of US Army and marines arrived.  This guy was one of them, with a job in public relations.

Peace Bro!
