We believe that the natural condition of the world and of humanity is good. We believe that good is nurtured by pursuing principles of equality and justice. We believe that mutual cooperation, fair trade, complete respect, appropriate technology and community development are key tools for building a peaceful community/region/ world. We call this the positive program.
We also recognise that the military industrial machine threatens the very fabric of our world. It consumes the resources that people need to live. How many decades and generations of hate have we created this year in Iraq? Indonesia? Guantanamo Bay? For the long-term future of humanity, we must eliminate the trade in weapons and the machinery of war.
Peace by Peace believes that Cairns ought refuse port visits by the US Navy.
Peace by Peace has initiated a campaign to pursue this policy. We will:
- Inform and educate the public of Cairns.
- Engage the Cairns City Council in public policy formation.
- Engage in Non-violent Direct Action to obstruct US warships attempting to enter or leave Cairns harbour.
- Engage US service personnel in honest political discussion wherever possible.
